Some people have been asking me how Beverly came to write the Platform. Here is her story in her words:
How it all happened is a bit involved, but the short version is that my new, 120-page booklet, A Common Sense Platform for the 21st Century, was an outgrowth of a request last July by someone highly respected in conservative circles. This person asked me to create a truly comprehensive platform.
Given all the infighting and turf battles among conservative factions, I was reluctant — until I examined the political platforms that already existed: old ones and new, well-known and peripheral, faithful to American ideals and even a few that are outright treasonous, such as the one from the Communist Party USA. To my surprise, not one contained the level of depth required to energize the public, much less turn around the status quo. And yet, everyone knows that third parties have not fared well in terms of electoral votes.
As you’ve no doubt surmised, the Left is now on the cusp of being able to impose a socialist America, having made permanent, almost unchallengeable, inroads into all of our major institutions — the schools, the media, medicine, the churches and even realms we once imagined to be impenetrable — such as science. Even NASA has succumbed. Which means the gains made during the mid-term elections will launch a flurry of activity by Congress, foundations, lobbyists, associations, schools and so forth to neutralize movements and people that stand in the way of a regimented, Nanny-state society. The message to any entity seeking a government grant, for example, will be: GET ONBOARD WITH POLITICALLY CORRECT WISDOM OR LOSE YOUR FUNDING.
In view of this, the element of surprise seemed to be the only recourse, strategically speaking, to counter a go-for-broke coup in 2012, especially with a mostly lapdog media in the wings.
What to do?
A post-election Washington Post survey inadvertently handed me the answer. It announced that “few in the [Tea Party] movement agree on a legislative agenda beyond [merely] downsizing government.” With that, I threw down the gauntlet: In 120 pages, I set out what I believed to be a comprehensive and unique legislative agenda that represents views common not only to most Tea Partiers, but to all constitutionally minded Americans — and the various fed-up ‘others’ — who are sick and tired of party politics as usual. In view of the latest flap over the Transportation Security Administration’s handling of airline security, and the sudden appearance of so-called “traffic” (surveillance) cameras on nearly every street corner, it is especially vital now to draw a line in the sand, or we will lose our freedom in the 2012 election cycle. That is why I wrote A Common-Sense Platform for the 21st Century.

You already know the stakes. The political parties, as they exist, are corrupted, with much of the electorate simply choosing the least objectionable candidate or not voting at all. The nation is falling to anarchy, which invites socialist-style government in the European model and begets, eventually, a police state under the guise of “establishing order.”
We’re out of time, folks.
Patriotic, common-sense Americans need, once again, to start calling the shots and steering the Nation’s agenda.
