Felipe de Jesús Calderón Hinojosa, Mexico's President, was recently invited to the White House where our President, Barack Obama, apologized to him for the way the United States treats illegal immigrants.
There are items in this controversy that don't make sense. The first being that our president is apologizing to another president while treating him to lunch at the White House.
Those who are living and working in the United States illegally are said to be taking jobs that citizens won't work, yet the number one topic in this election year is unemployment. I am sure that those citizens on the brink of losing their homes would gladly work those jobs in order to save their families from starvation. So there are not enough jobs on one hand, and on the other, we should be glad to have these people illegally cross our borders to take the existing jobs. That doesn't make sense.
If one brings up deportation, the point that we would be casting out working people who pay taxes. What? Taxes? These people don't pay taxes. They work for cash and no taxes are paid. Yet they have free education, free medical, food stamps and welfare – and now there is talk of putting them onto the Social Security and Medicare roles, giving them what the rest of us worked for most of our lives.
What is being overlooked is that President Calderon doesn't want the situation fixed; he has exactly what he wants from the United States, a way to utilize Mexico's number one exportable resource – poor people. Those families who cannot make a living in Mexico choose someone to break into the United States and get money – some by working, some by other means. This money is sent back across the border to the families in Mexico. Those families spend the money and Mexico thrives on the income. Some of it makes it's way into the pocket of the Mexican Government and that's also fine with Pres. Calderon.
California alone spends $10.2 billion on overloaded school systems, hospitals for free care to immigrants and prisons to handle 3.5 million illegal aliens from Mexico.
In Colorado, if the 500,000 illegal migrants, plus their 300,000 kids and grand-kids would move back 'home', mostly to Mexico, they would save an estimated $2 billion (some say $7 billion) annually in taxes that pay for schooling, medical, social-services and incarceration costs. Of course, that means that Denver would lose it's 12,000 gang members and there would be $20 million in prison costs saved, not to mention the public fear of 7,300 alien criminals create.
Nationally, up to $22 billion dollars are spent annually on welfare to illegal aliens. $2.2 billion is spent on food assistance programs such as food stamps and free lunches for illegal aliens. $12 billion is spent on education for children here illegally, some of whom have been here for years and still cannot speak a word of English. $27 is spent annually for American-born children of illegal aliens, known as “Anchor Babies.”
Three million dollars per day is spent incarcerating illegal aliens – that's $1.2 billion a year. Currently, 28% percent of all federal prison inmates are illegal aliens. $190 Billion Dollars are spent annually for welfare and social services by the American taxpayers. Now there is talk about putting them all on Social Security as well.
The crime rate among illegal aliens in the United States is two and a half times that of white non-legal aliens. Their children are learning how to do it, so that the future crime rate will be more. Nearly one million sex crimes are committed by illegal immigrants in the United States.
In 2005, up to ten million illegal aliens crossed our southern border with as many as 19,500 illegal aliens from other countries known to be hostile to the US. More than ten thousand were from the middle-east. This border is also a wide open door for drugs and guns coming into the US.
Why is nothing done? Well you may ask. Because in 2006, illegal aliens sent home an estimated $65 billion dollars to their families and friends back home. That accounts for the biggest income resource that Mexico has.
The bottom line is that while taking care of these people, who begin their lives in our country by breaking a law, is costing us $538.3 Billion Dollars a year, they are sending $65 Billion Dollars out of the country – most of it tax free.
It's time we stopped pandering to criminals who are costing us at every turn, in every direction and being rude about it. And the President of the United States should not apologize to the head criminal of that country.
